How to use your own DHL Express business customer contract with Shipcloud

Shipcloud supports you from Germany in the worldwide shipping of your DHL Express parcels via your own DHL Express contract, which you can already integrate in Shipcloud from our Professional subscription.

Integrated shipping methods, additional services and label formats for DHL Express

You can only use DHL Express with your own contract in connection with Shipcloud, which you can easily integrate from our Professional subscription. For your DHL Express shipping with your own contract, the following shipping methods and additional services are available.

Integrated shipping methods*

DHL Express**
Service for more urgent national and EU-wide shipments - with door-to-door delivery in Germany in the course of the next working day and Europe within a few business days.

To book DHL Express in the Shipcloud WebUI, select "Express (1 Day)" as service and "Parcel" as package type.

To book DHL Express via API request, transmit "one_day" as service and "parcel" as package type.

DHL Express 12:00**

Service for for urgent national and EU-wide shipments - with a door-to-door delivery before 12:00 in Germany on the next working day and Europe within a few business days.

To book DHL Express 12:00 in the Shipcloud WebUI, select "Express (1 Day Early)" as service and "Parcel" as package type.

To book DHL Express 12:00 via API request, transmit "one_day_early" as service and "parcel" as package type.

DHL Express Economy Select**

Service for for less urgent EU-wide shipments - with door-to-door delivery in Europe within a few business days.

To book DHL Express Economy Select in the Shipcloud WebUI, select this service and choose "Parcel" as package type.

To book DHL Express Economy Select via API request, transmit "dhl_express_economy_select" as service and "parcel" as package type.

Saturday Delivery

Service for the delivery of express shipments on Saturday in Germany and many parts of Europe.

*This information applies to shipping from Germany.

**Please note that the specified transit times are standard transit times. However, time specifications are not a guarantee and may vary, depending on the destination of your shipment.

Available label formats

The shipping label is generated in PDF DIN A5 or A6 format. You can define the shipping label format in the Shipcloud WebUI under the menu item "Configurations" >> "Label configurations" or via API request.

How to use your DHL Express contract with Shipcloud

Check your access data

For shipping with Cargo International you need your own contract, which you can easily integrate in Shipcloud. For your DHL Express configuration you need the following access data:

Username

DHL Express username

Password

DHL Express password

Account Number

9-digit DHL Express account number

📌 Please note that you need access to the "DHL Express Global Webservices" to use DHL Express with Shipcloud. You can receive access from your DHL Express Account Manager.

Store access data in your Shipcloud account

You can easily store your DHL Express contract data in your Shipcloud account and thus ship at your individually agreed rates and conditions with the carrier.

Based on the time of your registration at Shipcloud, we provide you below with further information on how to store your DHL Express access data in the Shipcloud WebUI.



Registration from August 2, 2022

How to store your contract data for DHL Express

Log in to your Shipcloud account resp. to the Shipcloud WebUI and select the menu item "Carriers" in the navigation bar on the left.

Under "Active carriers", click on the blue contract icon on the left next to DHL Express to store the access data from your DHL account in your Shipcloud configuration and, if necessary, to make further settings.



Click on the green "Save & activate" button on the right so that your changes are applied and your own business rates are applied when you are creating your shipping labels.

📌 Please note that previously saved data will be overwritten and you will ship using your own business rates after successful activation.

Registration before August 2, 2022

How to store your contract data for DHL Express

If you have registered with Shipcloud before August 2, 2022, please contact our support team first and we will activate your own configuration for DHL Express.

After activation, you will receive a confirmation email from us and you will then find your configuration in your Shipcloud account under "Configurations" >> "Carriers" >> "DHL Express". Deposit and save your access data for DHL Express there.

Shipping conditions and billing

After successful configuration, you automatically ship at your own DHL Express business rates. Your individual agreements will then apply with regard to, among other things:

  • your transport insurance,

  • the (regular) pick-up,

  • the worldwide/international shipping, also outside the EU.

📌 Please note that Shipcloud will not be able to show you any prices for DHL Express, as our system does not have access to this part of your contract. You can view your shipping conditions in your DHL account or request them from your account manager.

You will be billed directly by DHL for your shipping labels. You will only receive a monthly invoice from Shipcloud for the use of our service (basic and transaction fees) and for the shipping labels created at Shipcloud's business rates with other carriers.

Important information about pickup and packaging

DHL Express shipments created via Shipcloud can only be sent via pickups. Please arrange a regular pickup directly with your DHL Express account manager or request a pickup when creating a shipment via the Shipcloud API. To do this, you must provide the following information to the carrier:

  • Description for the shipment (not as part of the package)

  • Telephone number of the sender and recipient

  • Pickup day and time frame

  • Pickup address

You can also find out which parameters you need to pass when creating DHL Express shipping labels and for requesting pickups in our Developer Portal.

📌 Please note that you have to transmit a pickup request while creating a shipping label if you have not agreed on a regular pickup with DHL Express. A sporadic pickup order at the push of a button as well as the transfer of pickup times is not possible via the Shipcloud WebUI.

Dutiable shipping

When shipping with DHL Express to a dutiable country, Shipcloud automatically adds the free DHL Paperless Trade service, which enables paperless online submission of your export documents such as customs declaration and commercial or pro forma invoice.

Returns

Return shipments are not possible with DHL Express. However, you could create these, with DHL via Shipcloud's business rates or your own DHL account, for example.
