Download the App

To use shipcloud via Shopify, the shipcloud App must be downloaded from the Shopify App Store.

The shipcloud App is suggested for download in the backend of your Shopify shop under "Apps"**.

By clicking on the App you will be automatically forwarded to the Shopify App Store where you can then download the App.

After the download is completed you will be redirected to the Shopify backend.

**If this is not the case, click on the button "Visit the Shopify App Store" in the top right-hand corner to go to the App Store and search for the shipcloud App.

Connect the shipcloud App to your shipcloud account

To connect the two systems you need your shipcloud API key. You can find this key in your shipcloud account.

Get your API key

In your shipcloud account, click on your email address in the top right corner. There you will find the menu item "API Key".

Copy the top key to create live labels.

Good to know: If you only want to test the technical functions of shipcloud for the time being, you will need the Sandbox API key. However, this only allows you to create test labels.

Connect shipcloud with Shopify

Now go back to your Shopify backend → Apps. There, please select the shipcloud App again and click on "Preferences".

Enter your API key into your Shopify configuration and confirm by pressing the "Save" button.

Immediately after your registration DHL, DPD and UPS are available to you for shipping through shipcloud’s conditions.

Good to know: You can deposit your own business contracts for all shipping carriers connected to shipcloud. To integrate your own contract, however, you would have to sign up for at least our Professional subscription.

Configure your shipcloud App in Shopify

Carrier Settings

Under "Carrier Settings" you can preselect your preferred carriers. This saves time during label creation because the carrier specified in this step is selected by default for the labels from now on.

Good to know: It is also possible to customize the carrier individually later during label creation.

Package Settings

Under "Package Settings", you can specify package templates.

Here you can store the standard dimensions of your shipping boxes. This means that they do not have to be entered manually when creating the label.

If you click on "Add new package", you can give this package template a name and define its dimensions. With a subsequent click on "Save" the dimensions are saved.

Good to know: This saves you a lot of time when creating labels because you have already defined all package dimensions. If you do not have standard package dimensions or do not want to use this service, you can skip this step.

Default From Address

Here you can define which sender address is to be printed on the shipping labels. You have the choice, if: The address should be obtained from shipcloud, the address should be taken from the Shopify shop or you can specify an individual address. To save all changes, please click on "Save".

Good to know: If you want your items to be picked up from your "normal" delivery address, but would like to have a different address on the label, this function is very useful.

The address from your Shopify backend will be used to create labels. In your shipcloud account you can set a different shipping address, which can then be used for pick up (only if you want to use different addresses here). You can then order the pick up in your shipcloud account.

Fulfillment Settings

Here you can specify, for example, whether your customer will be notified about shipping updates by shipcloud or the carrier itself. If you decide to have the notifications sent by shipcloud, make sure you also provide us with the e-mail addresses of your customers.

Please note, that the notification by carrier is only supported by DHL DPD and GLS.

Select "Use line items weights" so that the weights of your products will automatically be added up when creating the shipping label.

Select "Use packaging weight" and then enter the weight of the packaging so that the weight will also be added to the weight of the products. This is an advantage for standard packages. Afterwards, you can enter a package description.

Good to know: The package description does not necessarily have to specify the contents of the shipment. It is therefore possible to put the order number in the reference field on the shipping label.

Customs Declaration

Here you can already provide some information for the customs declaration.

Good to know: This is important if you want to send items to non-EU countries (e.g. Switzerland). You will find more useful information on this in this article: [Create customs documents in Shopify](Link).

Return Label

In this step, you can specify whether a return label should be created together with the shipping label. This point is optional.

Bank Details

In the last step you can now enter your bank details if you wish to use the additional service "Cash on delivery". Please note that this additional service is only available if you have deposited your own business contract for the carriers DHL, UPS or GLS in shipcloud.
